Every single Cerebral Element in the course of its development and under the influence of sensory experiences, attains an individual character.

- Johannes Müller

Cerebral Element LLC was formed to explore the geometric arithmetic resulting from two individual characters brought together to share their passion, energy, and thoughts with the world.

Clay Hebert

Clay Hebert Co-Founder Cerebral Element

Clay Hebert grew up primarily in small bars around Eau Claire, a small town in west central Wisconsin where he demonstrated proficiency with a pool cue from the age of 6.  His pool winnings almost paid his way through the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, where he double-majored in Finance and Risk Management and minored in Japanese.

After graduating, Clay started working for a global consulting company, where he is still employed and his creative “Mac” soul is forced to use a PC as his weapon of productivity.  When he’s not working, Clay loves being active, physically and mentally. He has many interests and even more that he hasn’t yet begun to pursue, so in the interest of brevity, here’s a list of them…

friends and family, music, sports, technology, good books, writing, cooking, good beer, good wine, interesting cocktails, web 2.0, investing, ‘Mac’ stuff, photography, hunting, fishing, fitness, nutrition, travel, fashion, gambling and cards, games, intelligent conversation, surfing, snowboarding, romantic surprises, dark chocolate covered espresso beans and the Green Bay Packers.

Paul Pettengill Co-Founder Cerebral Element

Paul Pettengill spent a nice childhood in Raleigh, NC.  He meandered a bit through college ultimately ending up back in Raleigh for a degree in Mechanical Engineering from NC State.

He spent his first 7 years out of school working for a global consulting company, focusing on the sell side contracts of large pharmaceutical companies.  He now lives in San Francisco and works for a microcap software company serving that same industry. When he’s not busy working (which happens very rarely) he enjoys reading, watching sports, playing poker, disc golf and engaging in activities that will lead to embarassing stories that he will tell ad nauseum…

Collective Passion.

Clay and Paul both worked at the same global consulting company for over 7 years before their paths cosmically crossed.  They were scheduled to co-deliver a presentation to a pharma client and as they sat in the rental car outside and prepped for the meeting, Clay and Paul realized that they shared not only a similar (and unique) blend of work ethic and casual attitude but also a deep passion for new ideas, entrepreneurship and the desire to make the world a better place.  The LLC papers weren’t filed until late 2008, but Cerebral Element was really conceived (get your mind out of the gutter) in that rental car back in 2006.
